Pasco Sheriff's Forensic Institute for Research, Security & Tactics Groundbreaking, in Land O'Lakes

Sunday, Oct 14, 2018 | On Target Page: Land O'Lakes, Law and Order
The groundbreaking for the Pasco Sheriff's Forensic Institute for Research, Security & Tactics was held in Land O’Lakes. Clubs from our Rotary District 6950 came together and gave a grant for $30,000 to contribute to the K9 tactical center that will be housed in the new facility.

The Pasco County Sheriff's training facility will allow the Sheriff's K-9 teams and members of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office to experience real-life scenario training for incidents they may encounter on a daily basis. This Grant will provide bleachers and lighting for the training facility. The bleachers will allow the Sheriff’s Office to interact with “at risk” youth, schools, and the community.

All of Pasco County’s dignitaries attended the ground breaking for Florida's Forensic Institute for Research, Security, and Tactics (FIRST) complex in Land O’ Lakes.

The FIRST is a collaboration between academia and practitioners to develop a state-of-the-art research center that informs, innovates, and offers the most cutting-edge training in forensics, security, and tactics.

FIRST will consist of the Thomas Varnadoe Forensic Center for Education and Research that will allow for training and includes the Forensic Anthropology Fields; a K9 Training and Wellness Center; and also buildings for cyber security and unmanned vehicles.

People from around the globe will come to this facility that’s located right here in Pasco County.
