Land O' Lakes defeats Zephyrhills 14-9 in Football "Nick, how did ya catch that ball?"

The winning team at the Land O’ Lakes High School Football and Basketball Golf Tournament are (from left): Butch Taylor, of Lakeland (who was also Closest to the Pin), Eric Newsome Sr. and Eric Newsome Jr., both of Land O’ Lakes, and Robbie Burkart, of Odessa.  The tournament was held at Plantation Palms Golf Club on August 19 and all proceeds benefit the two sports programs at the school.

Open house was a little less crowded than in the past with about a thousand less students but legendary girls soccer coach Vicky King still has her seniors. Sitting next to King is Becky Hinmon then from left is Seniors Kristina Moehle, Chelsea Williams, Land O’Lakes Principal Mrs. Monica Ilse, Amanda Goble and Claire Kurlychek. 7030…There is a little more room in the lobby at Land O’Lakes High School since the departure of about a thousand people with students, teacher and administrators going to the first new High School in Land O’Lakes, Sunlake High School, in the last 35 years. Glad they stayed are freshman Sierra Monday, Robert Lombardo, junior Ashley Parater, senior Jacob Crescent, senior Bianca Basulto, Alea Basulto, freshman Morgan Crescent, Bill Appleton, Assistant Principal Cloty Rummell, Assistant Principal Steve Page, Assistant Principal Fran Helfrich, Stefani Schoenborn and Jennifer Hitchman.

Former Land O’ Lakes High School football stand-out Lannie Graham (on right) and friend Franklin Higgins, both of Land O’ Lakes, were entertaining the passerby’s with their running work-outs on Collier Parkway. They didn’t let the heat of the day bother them.  Graham, a 2006 graduate is leaving August 2 for Butte University in Chico City, Ca. where he will play corner and defensive back.

9393…The Land O’Lakes High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleading squads, under the direction of Penny Garcia, had no intention of coming home with anything less then the Champions trophy at the Best of Pasco County Cheerleading Competition on January 13^th.

9168… The Land O’Lakes High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleading squads took home Championship trophy’s at the Best of Pasco County Cheerleading Competition on January 13^th.

9183… The Land O’Lakes High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleading squads dominated in all aspects of the Best of Pasco County Cheerleading Competition on January 13^th and set the bar so high that everyone witnessing the program was truly impressed.
