Wesley Chapel Student at Carrollwood Day School, Nitya Ragini Madabhushi, completes her Bharatanatyam Arangetram at India Cultural Center

Wesley Chapel resident and Junior at Carrollwood Day School, Nitya Ragini Madabhushi, completed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram on September 3rd 2023 at India Cultural Center. More than 500 people attended the 165th Bharatanatyam Arangetram of Nritya Academy under the guidance of Guru Smt. Geetha Raaj. After Guru Geetha Raaj and her daughter Dr. Sabrina Madabhushi, Parth Iyyangar Madabhushi, Nitya Ragini Madabhushi is the third generation Bharatanatyam dancer in the family.

An Arangetram classical dance recital signifies the debut recital of a classical dancer who also learns about Indian history, mythology, religion, customs and culture.

Nitya Ragini Madabhushi is the daughter of Prahlad and Sabrina Madabhushi. Nitya has completed her diploma in Bharatanatyam and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance through Alagappa University. Nitya is a Sensei who also holds an Adult Black belt in the Shito-Ryu martial arts field and has represented Team USA at the World Karate Championships four times in Italy, Orlando and Ireland. She won one silver and three bronze medals in these world championships.

Among the chief guests were Tampa Councilman Luis Vera, Kuchipudi Maestro KV Satyanarayana, Alagappa University chief Dr. Ram Vairavan, Cricket Council USA President Maq Qureshi, Internationally popular Carnatic music singers Aishwarya and Saundarya. A few CDS faculty were in attendance as well.
