GFWC Lutz, Land O'Lakes Woman's Club Donate $20,000 and Time to several Community Activities in the previous month in Pasco County

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB stepped to the fore when Lutz Guv’na Atlas Cortecero brought to its attention Maniscalco Elementary School’s urgent need for a secure, locked and mobile medical cabinet for the nurse’s office. The club lost no time in generously donating $1,450.00 toward the purchase of a suitable cabinet and President Elayne Bassinger and club members delivered the check to the school.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB is pleased to announce the winners of its CLASS of 2023 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEES. Kelly Beilfuss and Humberto Martinez (not pictured) were each awarded $5,000 scholarships from the Lutz Volunteer Fire Dept. (ret.) Endowment Fund and $2,000 Woman’s Club scholarships were awarded to Alessandra Diggs, Allen Ho and Edyth Krook and presented by Club President Elayne Bassinger, Jay Muffly, (ret.) President of Lutz Volunteer Fire Dept. and Chairperson Lucy Albury. A total of $16,000 in scholarship funds was awarded.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members had a delightful time providing craft materials and instructing children in various crafts in celebration of Earth Day awareness at Crews Lake Wilderness Park. The kids learned the importance of monarch butterflies in our ecosystem and were told about tagging these beautiful butterflies to track their annual migration and life span. They also experienced seeing the actual eggs on a milkweed flower and were able to craft their own beaded caterpillars on leaves. It was a very good day for the children and for Mother Earth!

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB members recently delivered a vehicle filled with hand knitted afghans to the spring convention of GFWC Florida last week. Club members were delighted to put their skills to work to knit and crochet these beautiful comfy afghans for the disabled and special needs kids who will spend a fun-filled week this summer at Camp Boggy Creek. Annette Bellingar, President Elayne Bassinger and VP Peggy Andrews took charge of packing and delivering these much needed items to Orlando for the campers.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O'LAKES WOMAN'S CLUB BRING AWARENESS TO CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O'LAKES WOMAN'S CLUB has been promoting awareness during April, being designated Child Abuse Prevention Month, by selling distinctive blue pinwheels at all club meetings during the month, which funds will be donated to various social services working with child victims of abuse. Members Gail Howard and Roseann Lange planted a large garden of pinwheels at the Historic Old Lutz School to draw community attention to this important issue and the club women will display them in their gardens and yards.

The club team joined many other school groups and organizations for this important fundraising event. The club booth was set up by its members who chose “Send Cancer Packing” as its theme with lots of props and fun games with prizes to raise funds.

The club wished to express appreciation of their important service and contributions to the community especially during Library Workers’ Month.

The Woman’s Club has long supported this Troop and has enjoyed a collaborative working relationship in many joint efforts and community projects locally. The club appreciates the boys’ community service and volunteerism and wishes to encourage them in all their worthy endeavors.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O’LAKES WOMAN’S CLUB member Gail Howard and Booster Marie Rook delivered a literal truckload filled with very useful household items and clothing left unsold after the club’s recent flea market. These items will be sold at The Solutions Thrift Store in Dade City, which is a part of Sunrise of Pasco County, with 100% of the proceeds to be used in support of services for adult and child victims of domestic and sexual violence.
