HICK Family Fishing Mini-Tournament at Hungry Harry’s Famous BBQ, in Land O'Lakes

Hungry Harry’s Famous BBQ hosted and sponsored an incredible event put on by HICK: Hunter’s in Christ’s Kingdom, a nonprofit founded for Christian hunters and Outdoorsmen to have a place to share their love of Christ and the outdoors. HICK believes “We are all Hunters In Christ Kingdom so let us; Live, hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors in a way that will honor Him and use our voice and our lives to worship, walk & witness as we share the gospel.â€. At the end of September, this event had over 40 foster children present to learn how to fish and each child left with a fishing pole to take home with their newfound talent. Volunteers through HICK brought their own personal boats to take the kids on the lake while some fished from shore. Almost every child caught a fish and their smiles showed how proud and excited they were, most had never fished before. With over 80 people involved in the tournament, the kids had an opportunity to bond with the fisherman and hear about God and how fishing relates to the Bible, mentioned 38 times. Bert Thomas and Steve Mitchell founded HICK because they wanted to “share our common bond with common people†and the love of hunting and the love of Jesus. The idea came on a hunting trip to Pennsylvania. It centered around the worship, walk and witness that they have always had on our wall. We waited until social media became reality and then launched HICK.
