The name Weatherford is synonymous with Land O’ Lakes football. “This is family, so it feels like we’re at home,†Drew Weatherford said. A Weatherford lined up under center for the Gators 11-consecutive years. A Weatherford suited up at Land O’ Lakes 18 total years. Weatherford brothers were honorary captains for the Butter Bowl. Land O' Lakes snapped an 8-year losing streak to defeat Sunlake. Land O' Lakes made the playoffs from 1997-2010 with a Weatherford on the team. “I started in 1994 and we played here until 2011, so I’ve either been playing or coming to games here for a very long time,†former state representative Will Weatherford said. The brothers were back at their old stomping grounds as honorary captains for the Butter Bowl matchup against Sunlake.
