Sunrise Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center in Pasco County, Grand Opening of New Office in West Pasco by Tom Jackson

Sunrise Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center in Pasco County, CEO Kelly Sinn, has announced the opening of an office in New Port Richey. Sunrise has been offering limited services in West Pasco for survivors of domestic and sexual assault for nearly 15 years. Sunrise has been able to secure permanent space for advocates and IFP attorneys to meet with participants to offer counseling, support groups, aid with injunctions for protection, accompaniment, and crisis intervention.

On June 27th, Sunrise hosted an Open House from 4 pm to 6 pm at 5330 George Street in New Port Richey for community members. The West Pasco Chamber of Commerce presented for the Ribbon Cutting at 4:30 pm. Community members were encouraged and invited to come by and meet staff, learn about expanded programming that will be offered in the area, network and hear more about the services they be offering.

There's always been a sunrise -- and a Sunrise -- in east Pasco County. Now you can see a Sunrise in west Pasco, too.
To make it official, Wednesday afternoon, Director Kelly Sinn snipped the ceremonial ribbon on the nonprofit agency's first domestic and sexual violence center in west Pasco.
It was clear at the reception there are some details to work out, but demonstrating Sunrise's skill for keeping its priorities straight, the urgency of getting the center's services up and available took precedence over things such as conference tables and rolling chairs.

Sunrise moves into the former George Street site of the West Pasco Pregnancy Center, which recently moved to a location on U.S. Hwy. 19 in Port Richey.
The Office of Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller maintains private space in courtrooms in New Port Richey and Dade City for counselors from Sunrise and the Salvation Army to meet with victims of sexual and domestic violence. Deputy clerks help victims process the forms that help them find relief through the court system.
Through Clerk & Comptroller Paula O'Neil's Juror Compensation Donation program, jurors have contributed nearly $50,000 to Sunrise and the Salvation Army's efforts, as well as the Guardian ad Litem program.
