The Second Annual Charlie Daniels Sporting Clay Shootout in Land O' Lakes - presented by Team Farrell

Team Farrell presented the Second Annual Charlie Daniels Sporting Clay Shootout to benefit The Angelus held on December 6th at Tampa Bay Sporting Clays in Land O' Lakes and capped a series of events to raise funds for the nonprofit. “We cannot say thank you enough to EVERYONE for a wonderful and successful event from the celebrities performing on stage to the crew members setting the stage to the hotels staff members to the transportation drivers to the families of the celebrities to the event volunteers to the generous auction sales to the donations in the box to the golfers to the shooters to the restaurants on the courses to Buck's Crew...the list is endless” said the folks at The Angelus. “I know for many of you the weekend is over, but for us at The Angelus House our season, has just begun. This morning we had a Prayer Service; which reminds us why we are here and the reason for our season. And this evening is our first Christmas Pageant and again thank you to all our various supports.” When children who are physically or mentally challenged grown to adults, they are no longer able to go to school, the need for a day program became evident. With a donated portable classroom, The Angelus Day Program opened in 1988. Several adults in the community began attending daily classes from 9 to 3 each day, along with The Angelus adults. These folks are also in wheelchairs, living at home with their aging parents, traveling daily from surrounding communities. In one short year, the portable classroom became too crowded and once again, the Board of Directors formed a construction committee, In July of 1990, a new 50 x 100 feet building was completed with the help of volunteer community labor. As many as 40 masons gathered and the walls went up in one day!! The Day Program expanded to include classes in computer skills, arts and crafts, miniature horse care, physical fitness, gardening, swimming and home economics. Charlie’s Lodge was built in 1999 by 600 volunteers to honor their good friend, Charlie Daniels. Lastly, the pavilion was built in 2001 and is used by many groups in the community for social events as well as fund-raisers for The Angelus. Find out more information about The Angelus, click HERE.
