2021 in Review: Wiregrass Turkey Trot, The Top Turkey Trot in North Tampa Bay at the Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel
From Wiregrass Warbler: This past Thanksgiving Day over a thousand runners came out for the WiregrassTurkey Trot, The Top Turkey Trot in North Tampa Bay at the Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel. ?All Wiregrass Turkey Trot proceeds go to charity, Trotting to transform our community together since Thanksgiving Day 2013!
Last year the Wiregrass Turkey Trot went virtual. At the same time, one of our previous hosts moved out of the Shops at Wiregrass. We decided to keep our run at Wiregrass after getting a lot of support from long-time sponsors and other partners. Staying at Wiregrass meant we had to change the name of this North Tampa Bay family-focused Thanksgiving Day tradition.
The Wiregrass Turkey Trot was held on Thanksgiving morning at the Shops at Wiregrass. The starting line forms at 28139 Paseo Drive, Wesley Chapel, FL 33543. The gun went off at 7:30 a.m. for the 5K. Thanks a million to our wonderful sponsors--many of whom are coming back again and again. Special thanks to Farina Orthodontic Specialists our 2021 presenting sponsor!
?With the help of our sponsors and participants, more than $262,500 has been raised and distributed to local charities since our inaugural event in 2012. We are committed to making 2021 another great event. Your registration fee will support the AdventHealth Wesley Chapel Foundation, The Big Bill Foundation and Rotary Club of New Tampa charities.
Event History:
The Wiregrass Turkey Trot started with the leadership of three local organizations collaborating with the idea of a family event to benefit local charities in the New Tampa and Wesley Chapel areas. The Rotary Club of New Tampa continues as the founding host. Advent Health Wesley Chapel Foundation is returning as a host and we've added the Big Bill Foundation.
Including the 2020 virtual race, the Wiregrass Turkey Trot eight-year charitable tally totals more than $262,500. All proceeds from the Wiregrass Turkey Trot events go to local charities.
