The Tampa Warriors Hockey Program and AdventHealth Center Ice Partner for Hockey Heals-22 Partnership to Help Raise Awareness and Help Prevent Veteran Suicides
There will be local teams, teams from other states, first responders and even some local celebrities that will be a part of this amazing event. The support we have received so far has been amazing, and we want to build on that success. On average there are twenty-two service member suicides per day; however, awareness and education leads to prevention. Hockey Heals-22 will contribute greatly to that prevention effort.
About The Tampa Warriors Hockey Program
The Tampa Warriors Hockey Program, Inc. (TWHP) was formed on November 29, 2017, and formally incorporated on January 1, 2020. The Tampa Warriors Hockey Program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, consisting of over 150 members that have been organized to operate exclusively for charitable, prevention, and educational purposes, for those wounded in defense of the United States.
The purpose of the TWHP is to serve the disabled veteran community, the hockey community, and the community at-large in the Tampa region. Our goal is to provide a healthy escape (ice hockey) to our veterans that will help them find the camaraderie and support system they had while serving in the military. “Our mission is to provide both a recreational and competitive environment (teams) that is therapeutic and educational for our members so that we serve both each other and our communities.”
The TWHP program educates, trains, motivates, and encourages those who have physical disabilities incurred during service to the United States to participate in the sport of ice hockey in an environment that is adapted to the level of their ability, with teammates that reinforce their teamwork.
The TWHP, Inc. is staffed by volunteers, on-ice and off-ice mentors and directors who do not receive any compensation, stipend, or other remuneration for their time. All volunteer hours conducted by our members promote those programs that assist the community and aid our members.
