Pasco County Sheriff's debate at The Republican Club of Central Pasco and West Pasco Chamber at PHCC
A candidates' debate between Sheriff Chris Nocco and his two Republican challengers grew raucous Wednesday night when the pro-Nocco crowd demanded to know if each candidate would support the winner of the Aug. 14 primary.
The Republican Club of Central Pasco hosted the forum between Nocco, Roger Fortney and Maurice Radford. The winner goes on to face Democrat Kim Bogart in November.
Both Nocco and Fortney pledged to support the winner of the Republican primary. But Radford, a former major under retired sheriff Bob White, made no such promise. "It depends on who wins," he said. The comment earned him jeers from the crowd.
Radford said he won't vote for a Democrat, but that it would be "duplicitous" to say he would support Nocco, who he thinks isn't qualified for the job. "He's inflated his experience," Radford said. "He was groomed for this election by a handful of politicians. That doesn't make him a bad person."
