Pasco County Commissioners grants $300,000 towards a new Community Center at Stanley Park in the Lacoochee area
Wednesday, Jun 22, 2011 | On Target Page: Lacoochee & Trilby Community Events
Pasco County commissioners awarded the Lacoochee community $300,000 on Tuesday, matching the same amount raised by the Lacoochee Boys & Girls Club for the 10,000 square foot center and gymnasium at Stanley Park. The Lacoochee Boys & Girls Club provides facilities for about 50 kids and the new facility would at least double that number.
The Lacoochee Area Redevelopment Corporation, a local nonprofit organization, requested $1.5 million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the new community center and if they don’t get the approval, the Lacoochee Boys & Girls Club will have to stage more fundraisers, or go back to their sponsors for additional funds or downsize their plans.
