| In 8th Grade Middle School Basketball action Pine View MS built up a sizable lead over their crosstown rivals Chuck Rushe MS but could not put them away as Rushe widdled away at the lead till they tied the score and sent the game into overtime. Pine View came back to take the lead and win the game on their home court and finish their season with a 500. average. It was a great game by both teams and a fitting end to a great season of Middle School Basketball | ||||||||||

Pine View Middle School students from the Social Studies Department collected almost $1800 during a 10 day celebration of goodwill for the people of Haiti who are still suffering from the earthquake on January 12. Students from The Cheetahs raised almost half of the total. When asked about why raising money was an important endeavor, one student responded, “It was a chance for us to exercise our civic duty and responsibility in a situation that was bigger than ourselves and bigger than our community. We were regular people, helping other regular people.” They gave a check to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts. ....Pine View Middle School Social Studies instructor Mark Jarke stands with students from The Cheetahs who raised almost half of the $1800 raised for relief efforts in Haiti. Click >>> HerePine View Middle School Principal Kim Anderson (front, fourth from right) was pleased that her students did so well in gathering food items for the second annual Harvest for Humanity food drive and fundraiser that benefited Christian Social Services and the Habitat for Humanity of Central Pasco. Members of the Habitat including Jerry McCarthy, of State Farm Insurance, and Charlie Reese, of JC Audiology, (on left) were on there to transport the goods to Christian Social Services. Pine View also raised $800 for the Habitat for future houses. Since Habitat for Humanity of Central Pasco is an all-volunteer affiliate, no monies are used for salaries or marketing or overhead. On Saturday, November 15th, around noon, bring non-perishable food items to Holy Trinity Church, 20735 Leonard Road, Lutz, and any pledged amount of money for Habitat for Humanity of Central Pasco. Click >>> Here The staff at Pine View Middle School planned the 30th Anniversary of the school for one year. They wanted to make sure that everything turned out perfect. A good crowd showed up for some great food and a chance to see former teachers and administrators-many that started out their careers at the school. When Principal Kim Anderson started out the evening she greeted everyone and said that it was like a Homecoming and that all Homecoming’s needed a Queen so she presented Spanish Teacher Bertha Juanpere a crown and cape since she is the only one who has been at the school the entire thirty years. If the average is 300 children in each eighth grade graduating class, approximately 9,000 children have passed through the halls of Pine View Middle School.
Superintendent Heather Fiorentino spoke, as did former Principal Dave Estabrook who is currently the Principal at Chuck Rushe Middle School. Outside the gymnasium there are now Panther paw prints in the sidewalk around the oak tree with names of the teachers who have retired from the school. Pine View Middle School 8th grader, Alexandra Pierovich rocked at Florida Swimming Junior Olympic Championships
Pine View Middle School 8th grader, Alexandra Pierovich rocked at Florida Swimming Junior Olympic Championships (Feb 21 – 24) in Clearwater, Florida this past weekend! She qualified to swim in 11 events as a 13-14 year old. In the meet, you can only swim a maximum of 6 qualifying events. There were 513 females swimming. Alexandra made the finals (top 16 finishers/2 alternates) in all 6 of her 6 events. She finished 19th overall in the state and still has another year in this age group. In all of her final events she swam personal best times and shaved off 36.07 seconds from her qualifying times! Since she finished 2 of her races in the top 6, she qualified for the Florida All Star team. The Florida Swimming team will compete against the southern Florida JO champions (Gulf Coast Swimming) in a dual meet at the end of March. Florida Swimming has the fastest Junior Olympic qualifying times in the nation! She finished 8th in the 100 Breast, 6th in the 200 Breast, 6th in the 200IM, 13th in the 400IM, 16th in the 500 Free 17th in the 100 Free (alternate). She rocked!! These are amazing finishes for a swimmer that will compete again in this meet next year…All of her swims were AAA and AAAA USA swimming times! 100 free is 54.71 AAA, 200IM is 2:11.17 AAAA, 400IM is 4:40.09; 4:39.6 is AAAA cut. 500 free is 5:12.98 AAA. 100 breast is 1:09.33 AAA and 200 breast is 2:29.77 AAA.

Taylor Adcock 6th grade, Rand Willette 6th grade and Alex Fulford. The students won an essay contest sponsored by the Land O’Lakes Moose Lodge about the dangers of taking drugs and how they can ruin lives.
Why I Shouldn’t do Drugs Hello, I’m here to tell you why you should not do drugs. One of the best reasons never to do drugs, is it may lead to an early death. One of the worst things to know about early death from drugs, is that it could have been prevented. Another excellent reason never to do drugs is if you die, you will never be able to experience the rest of life! You won’t be able to enjoy the new inventions that may come such as, hover cars, space travel, and time machines. But, if you don’t die, you may harm other people! There are so many ways to harm others. Sometimes, if you’re high, you may shoot someone, and never notice you did it! But, you don’t have to shoot to kill. If you’re high on crack, or any other drug, you may try to kill someone with a knife, or your own hands! Sometimes, you may get a serious illness from drugs. You may get cancer. Believe me, you don’t want to get cancer. You will die a slow, painful death. Let’s say you don’t get cancer. You will start to do poorly in school. Drugs kill brain cells! This is no joke. Another slow, painful death is pneumonia. Pneumonia is when your lungs fill up with water and you can’t breathe. That is something else that happens from drugs. In one of the most exciting games this photographer has seen in middle school basketball (double overtime and a brief power outage leaving everyone in the dark), the Longhorns battled to victory in the final game of their Inaugural Season. With a tie score of 27-27, the game went into overtime until the score was 30-30 at the buzzer. More overtime and the battle of the Panthers and the Longhorns continued until the final buzzer put the Longhorns ahead 35-30. 8157…On Tuesday December 19th at 9am a member of the Royal family from the Hashamite Kingdom of Jordan was the guest speaker at Pine View Middle school. Sharifa (title) Noor Al- Assam a student at Dickinson University and a representative of the Embassy of Jordan in DC as part of the seeds of Peace project, goes around the country to lecture American students to a better understanding of her country.
