Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony Recognizing Veteran Employees and Citizens of Pasco County

The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners and Pasco County Administration held a special ceremony Wednesday, November 9, 2016 to show our deepest sense of gratitude to Veterans employed by Pasco County and to those living in Pasco County.
The resolution and recognition ceremony was held during the Board of County Commissioners regularly scheduled board meeting in the West Pasco Government Center Board Room, at 8731 Citizens Dr., New Port Richey, Florida. The event was followed by a group photo outside the building in front of the Pasco County Veterans Memorial. Please click here to see the photo.
Pasco County is proud to recognize those who have served our great nation, both in their military service and now in their civilian service. There are more than 50,000 Veterans living in Pasco County.
“Pasco County remains a community that has historically honored its Veterans,” said Pasco County Veterans Services Division Manager Don Stout. “We have a community that is proud of those who served; and it is an honor to have the opportunity to bring together, in recognition, those Veterans who serve the citizens of Pasco County and those who represent the citizens of Pasco County.”
The ceremony featured Keynote Speaker Saint Leo University Director for the Office of Military Affairs and Services Pamela Martis. The Ridgewood High School Chorus sang a beautiful rendition of the U.S. National Anthem.

World War II Vets Honored with Support the Troops Dinner Fundraiser at the Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club

On Tuesday (Veterans Day) November 11th 2014 Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club sponsored a gala event that include dinner / fundraiser for the nonprofit organization Support the Troops located on SR 54 in Wesley Chapel. The club was recognizing the 11 World War II veterans that reside in the community and ALL the other veterans from ALL wars and conflicts that also reside in the complex. Each of the World War II veterans were escorted in with the ROTC.

Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home Celebrates Traditional Memorial Day

Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home Administrator Marlies Sarrett, welcomed residents, guests and dignitaries to their Memorial Day Ceremony located at 6919 Parkway Boulevard in Land O’ Lakes on the Traditional date that started with General U.S. Grant following the Civil War. The Master of Ceremony for the event was Charlie Reese of JC Audiology in Lutz. The Invocation was given by Albert Herrera and the Presentation of Colors by the Honor Guard of the 927th Air Refueling Wing USAFR. The pledge of Allegiance was led by Chuck Wills and the guest Speaker was Veteran Advocate Keith Collins. Roll call of the Fallen Comrades was read by Sharon Richman from Operation Patriot. Mrs. Bettie Neville placed the Memorial Wreath. The Honor Guard of the 927 Air Refueling Wing USAFR demonstrated the Thirteen Flag Folding Ceremony and Taps for the residents, guests and dignitaries in attendance. Albert Herrera gave the Benediction and Administrator Marlies Sarrett gave the Closing Remarks.

Congressman Gus Bilirakis Hosts Annual Veterans Fair

On Saturday, May 17, Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) hosted his Annual Veterans Resource Fair, which provided important information and services for Veterans and their families in the 12th Congressional District. “Veterans have given so much to our country, and it is only right that we give back,” Bilirakis said. “I am proud to host our 8th Annual Veterans Resource Fair. This event will be a one stop shop for our Veterans, providing them with access to a variety of available services and resources. These services include, medical care, assistance with their disability claims or education benefits, and employment information.” Following the resource fair, the Congressman invited everyone to join him for a short patriotic program, hosted by Frank Wuco, Commander, USN, (Ret.), which also included a performance by the East Lake High School Band & Chorus. Additionally, Tech Sergeant Brad Clark of the 927th Air Medical Staging Squadron – MacDill Air Force Base, will be singing our National Anthem and God Bless America. The fair will be held at East Lake High School, at 1300 Silver Eagle Drive in Tarpon Springs.

Books for Troops Book Drive

Starting Oct. 1, and continuing throughout the month, Books for Troops will collect paperback books for its annual book drive to support deployed troops around the world. Volunteers from Boy Scout Pack 366 will support this year's drive. Collection sites are throughout north Tampa, Land O' Lakes, Wesley Chapel and Lutz. Books, some of which will be delivered to [...]
