Wesley Chapel faced fourth down twice inside Wiregrass Ranch territory during the first half of Friday night’s season opener. Dr. Zack spoke to the Wiregrass Ranch High School Football Parents about “Safety on the Field”. He stressed the importance of wearing mouth guards to not only protect the teeth and soft tissue; but to help alleviate concussions. Dr. Zack of Wesley Chapel Dentistry (located at 28965 State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel) fitted Wiregrass Ranch Football Team with custom mouth guards valued at $350 each.

It wasn't one of the prettiest wins for Wesley Chapel, but it was good enough to keep the Wildcats undefeated. Wesley Chapel scored four runs in the fourth inning and four more in the sixth to set up Geoff DeGroot's walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Wiregrass Ranch 9-8 and claim the first RBI Pasco County Varsity Baseball Tournament championship Friday night at Wiregrass Ranch.

The Nature Coast boys basketball team had been waiting for a rematch with Wiregrass Ranch since the Bulls won the Class 4A-District 8 championship two weeks ago on the Sharks home court.

Nature Coast (29-3) avenged that loss Feb. 22 at Wiregrass Ranch (22-8) to take the 4A regional semifinals contest 70-56.

The Wiregrass Ranch boys basketball team won the first regional tournament game in program history by defeating Wesley Chapel 94-75 at home Feb. 17.

The Bulls (22-7) took a 52-26 lead into halftime of the Class 4A regional quarterfinals, but had to ward off a 30-point quarter by the Wildcats (13-16) in the third that closed the score to 72-56.
