GFWC New Tampa Juniorettes Planting a Pinwheel Garden to Bring About Awareness Child Abuse Prevention

Over 20 members of GFWC New Tampa Juniorettes, GFWC FL New Tampa Juniors and GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa from surrounding New Tampa communities will gather on April 6, 2012 planting begins at 9:30 a.m.at the Fire Station on Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in New Tampa to plant a “pinwheel” garden. Close to 1,000 silver and blue pinwheels will be planted in the lawn to show support for Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. Women, Junior and Juniorette members will join forces to show their support in bringing awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect to the community. The pinwheels will remain planted and are available for viewing by the community during the remainder of April.

The aim of the GFWC Signature Project: Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention, is to increase member understanding about and involvement in programs to decrease domestic violence in communities and across the nation. Darby Frankfurth, GFWC Florida Director of Junior Clubs has chosen teen violence as the focus for 2012-13 GFWC Florida Juniorettes. As a member of GFWC New Tampa Juniorettes, the clubs will be planting in honor of her theme.

Partnering with, Prevent Child Abuse Florida, we are planting pinwheels as a way in building awareness, providing education, and inspiring hope to everyone involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of our state’s children.
