Paula O'Neil PhD, Pasco Clerk and Comptroller's Office Earns International Award

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has announced that the office of Paula S. O’Neil, Pasco County Clerk and Comptroller received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2012 budget. This award represents a significant achievement by the clerk and comptroller’s office. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the award, the clerk and comptroller’s office had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, which were designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents must be rated proficient in all four categories, and comply with 14 mandatory criteria to receive this outstanding award, the release stated. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognized the specific efforts of Paula S. O’Neil, Ph.D., Clerk and Comptroller; Christine M. Mettler, MBA, Director of Budgets; and Ann W. Warchol, Budget Analyst. "Our office consists of a team of hard-working individuals who are committed to excellence. Honorable awards such as this are a reflection of their commitment and dedication,” Dr. O’Neil said The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving nearly 17,400 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
