The Rasmussen College, Land O' Lakes campus was fortunate to hear Mr. Joe Delatorre, CEO of Florida Medical Clinic at the Leadership Lecture Series. He told the group of students, faculty and community members how and what he has learned about leadership and management. He emphasized communication, earning people's trust, the importance of showing up on time and adding value. He reminded students that if they did not come to class they would not get what they needed to know because education gets you in the door. Effective leaders make sure people talk, deal directly with conflict, build consensus since team work is integral to accomplishing the goal.

The campus initiated the monthly Leadership Lecture series to bring leaders for students to learn from in addition to the faculty in their courses. Having leaders in the community talk about difficult leadership decisions and give suggestions on books and the use of mentors adds value to coursework, theory to application. The interaction between Joe Delatorre last night and the students was priceless.
