Ukulele Brand's Beautiful Lake Front Dining Sun Buzz Jam Blues

Thursday, Feb 23, 2012 | On Target Page: Land O'Lakes, Ukulele Brand's Beautiful Lake Front Dining

A great time was had by all who came out to the Sun Buzz Jam Blues on its inaugural jam at Ukulele's Brand's Beautiful Lake Front Dining !

It is their 4th year as a Jam that attracts mostly pro musicians that was started in August of 2008 in San Antonio, moved to Rapscallions in July of 2010, and now plans to be at Uke's for a while! Utilizing the 'Once a Month" format since 2010, they find it keeps the jam fresher and more 'special' than a weekly jam - which is the standard. Switching up lead guitar players every month helps to keep things different. Buzz (Howlin' Buzz) aka Scott Place, runs the actual jam, the combining of different musicians to keep the music top quality even if the players are not the best to make 'em sound like pros! Buzz has been involved in the Bay area Blues scene for more than 20 years so he has many, many contacts and friends in the area. (He also has a band, called "The Howlin' Buzz Blues Band” and Issy (Ness), does the advertising, keep the mailing list in order and send out updates and reminders, design and produce fliers to send out and hang around, and does photography. She also keeps the musicians at the jam happy, and generally in the area they need to be in (they call that part "Hearding Cats"). They decide on the special guests or themes together, and visit other jams and events all month long to invite jammers and Blues lovers to The Buzz Jam. Next month (Sunday March 18th) they will be having a Diva jam. We are inviting some of the best female Blues singers from the area to come out and sing the Blues for us. They think that will be a nice change and have five ladies on the lineup so far and expect a few more. They hope to see you next month!
