Pasco Arts Council held their Art Annual awards

Pasco Arts Council held their Art Annual awards and opening reception at the council’s art center on Friday evening, January 27. Awards were presented for Best in Show, Best in Category (4), and Honorable Mention at the discretion of the juror. This year’s distinguished juror was artist and Assistant Professor of Art at St. Petersburg College, Kevin Grass. Best of Show was awarded to Lisa Phillips Owens of Hudson for her painting in oil titled “The Gatekeeper.” Lisa also took Best in Painting Category. Other category awards were presented to Joseph Weinzettle of Tarpon Springs for his mixed media painting titled “Swamp Floor”; Best in 3-D went to C. Fulton of New Port Richey for her stone sculpture titled “Whistle a Happy Tune”; and final category of Drawing and Pastel was presented to Kathy Detrano of New Port Richey for her work in pastel titled “Sunset Study.” Honorable Mentions went to Laura Power and Marian Heinlein of New Port Richey, Nicole Thompson of Holiday, and Hossein Sodeghi of Lutz.

The public is invited to view this exhibit through March 9 at the PAC art center located at 5744 Moog Rd. Holiday, adjacent to Centennial Park Library Tuesday through Thursdays from 9 AM until 4 PM or Friday and Saturdays 9 AM until 1 PM. Visitors are welcome to vote for their own favorite each time they visit the exhibit until the end, at which time the Peoples Choice Award will be announced and presented. Some of the artwork is available for purchase; admission to the exhibit is free and handicapped accessible.
