Academy at the Lakes defeated Old Plank Christian Academy 30 to 9 to win the State Championship FCAPPS 8-Man Football Division on December 9, 2017. Academy at the Lakes got to the Championship game by defeating Canterbury 54 to 6 in the Quarterfinals, then went on to defeat Eastland Christian 46 to 6 and finally defeating Old Plank Christian Academy 30 to 9 at Southeastern University Victory Field to win the State Championship! This is the second State Championship for Academy at the Lakes taking their first State Championship home in 2006 Champions in the 6-Man Division. Daniel Gonzalez was awarded Overall Player of the Game, Jalen Brown was awarded Offensive Player of the Game, Dylan Price was awarded Defensive Player of the Game and Jordan Oladokun was awarded Special Teams Player of the Game.Head Coach Shawn Brown utilized his 13 years of coaching experience by applying his philosophy of “believing that players and providing them the opportunity to make decisions, both good and bad which will allow them to grow as a player and develop trust in their teammates.†Congratulations Academy at the Lakes!
