Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel Hosts 2nd Annual Duck Derby, in Land O’Lakes
PDF VersionThe Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel hosted its 2nd Annual Duck Derby. The Duck Derby race was held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, located at F.O.P. Pasco Lodge 29, 21735 YMCA Camp Rd, Land o' Lakes, Florida 34639.
The fun-filled family event had live music, a kid’s zone, food and of course the duck derby.
Around 2,000 yellow rubber ducks were dumped into the Lake, noodles were tied together to mark the course’s boundaries. A fireman starts the duck derby race with a push from a high-pressured fire hose into the water. Attendees were able to adopt a duck(s) to the join the race, and the first ducks that crossed the finish line in the Lake won prizes. The ducks were adopted at prices ranging from $5 for a single duck to $100 for a flock of 25.
The Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel donated the proceeds in a Check of $1,500.00 to the Pasco Sheriff Charities Inc. for the benefit of the K9 Tactical Center. Sophia Contino with her Lemonade Stand was also on hand to raise money for the Tactical Center.
