Tuesday, Sep 06, 2016 | On Target Page: Wesley Chapel, Rotary Club's Activities

The Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel held their weekly meeting on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, at Quail Hollow Golf and Country Club. The Guest Speaker this week was Mike Chapman, District Governor for our Rotary District 6950, (Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties) – Florida’s Nature Coast / Suncoast.

About Mike Chapman: The Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel was fortunate enough to have our District Governor Mike Chapman speak at its regular meeting on Wednesday. Mike educated us about The Rotary Foundation, and covered other topics as well.

Mike and his wife, Jocelyn, met at The University of West Florida in 1977. They have been happily married since 1980.

The Chapman family moved to the Tampa Bay area at the completion of Mike’s service as a Naval Officer. He is a member of Raymond James and Associates and has a wealth management practice that spans both the Tampa Bay area and the entire nation.

Jocelyn is a Business Banker and the 2013-14 President of the Rotary Club of Clearwater. Mike and Jocelyn have two sons, Edward (Ted) and Richard (Rick). Ted is a graduate of Clemson University and currently serves as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Rick is graduate of Auburn University and currently serves as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mike and Jocelyn are TRF Benefactors and members of both the Bequest Society and the Paul Harris Society – and all four members of the Chapman family are Paul Harris Fellows. Mike served as Club President in 1999-2000 and as Assistant Governor for three years beginning in 2010. He was selected as the 2011-12 District 6950 Assistant Governor of the Year and as the Keith Kurber ACE Award by District 6950 for the 2012-13 Rotary Year. Mike currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the District 6950 TRF committee, and he has been recently selected as Governor Nominee – Designee, slated to serve as District 6950 Governor for Rotary Year 2016-17.

When not involved with Rotary events and projects, Mike and Jocelyn enjoy sailing their 1981 Hunter 33 yacht, Knot Sure.

The Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel’s meetings are every Wednesday at Noon, at Quail Hollow Golf and Country Club, 6225 Old Pasco Rd., Wesley Chapel, FL 33544.

About the Rotary Club:

How do we work?

Our impact starts with our members—people who work tirelessly with their clubs to solve some of our communities' toughest challenges. Their efforts are supported by Rotary International, our member association, and The Rotary Foundation, which turns generous donations into grants that fund the work of our members and partners around the world. Rotary is led by our members—responsible leaders who help to carry forward our organization's mission and values in their elected roles.

How do we use our funds?

Responsible leadership means more than just doing good work—it means making the most out of every donation we receive.

What causes do we support?

We have identified specific causes to target to maximize our local and global impact. At the same time, we understand that each community has its own unique needs and concerns. Through our network of resources and partners, we help clubs focus their service efforts in promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.
