The Annual Church Street Christmas Celebration, in Dade City (Photos by Ashlee Baker)

Tuesday, Dec 22, 2015 | On Target Page: Dade City, Dade City Community Events

During the annual Church Street Christmas Celebration, the streets glow with luminarias. Homes are lit up like, well, a Christmas tree. Santa makes an appearance along with Mrs. Claus. And three churches - First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian and First United Methodist - offer a live nativity scene, free Christmas photos and lots of musical entertainment. There are free offerings of spiced cider, hot cocoa and coffee. And an added twist this year is the opportunity to top your visit off with a car ride through nearby streets that will be lit with some 3,500 luminarias, courtesy of Historic Dade City Celebrations LLC. It's tradition. Locals and visitors alike are welcome to rest a bit or enjoy a winter stroll while taking in the sights, sounds and tastes of the holiday during this year's hometown celebration.

Church Street Christmas takes place in Dade City, Florida, in the heart of the historic district on December 21 -23, 2015, 7pm to 9 pm. All are invited to experience this free classic annual holiday event along Dade City's historic Church Avenue where carolers, choirs, dancers and musicians perform along luminary lit sidewalks and brilliantly decorated homes. Santa will be there too! Event begins December 21st -23rd, every evening from 7 to 9 pm. Come celebrate the spirit of Christmas with us as we enjoy the sights and sounds of this magical season. Street closes to vehicular traffic from 7 to 9 pm for strolling from the corner of 17th and Church Avenue to the corner of 9th Street.

It's wonderful to walk down the street and see all the performers. It's just a small-town family kind of setting. Noncommercial. You come away from it just with a warm feeling in your heart and feeling good about the small-town life and the people you celebrate with. To learn more, visit http://churchstreetchristmas.org.
