Pasco County holds Inaugural All-Star High School Football Game at Sunlake High School in Land O’Lakes

For the first time in Pasco County history there was played an All-Star High School Football game and it was a tremendous success! The inaugural East-West Classic was played at Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at Sunlake High School and was put together by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is similar to the ones Hillsborough and Pinellas counties have hosted for more than two decades. The Head Coach for the West team was Bill Browning of Sunlake High School and the Head Coach for the East team was Mark Kantor of Wiregrass High School and the Asst. Coaches were made up from all the County Schools Head Coaches (except Pasco HS). All-Star Cheerleaders (2 from each school) with Head Coach (West) - Jeremiah Smith (Mitchell) and Head Coach (East) - Teresa Joiner (Wesley Chapel - Land O Lakes) were also in on the action!

Here are the rosters for the inaugural Pasco County All-Star Football game,. The game was for seniors and the players were selected by county coaches.

East roster

All of the scoring was done during the first half by the East with Zephyrhills High’ Tre'un Everett, the offensive MVP, running 35 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead and Pasco High’s Jakiah Felder added the final touchdown on a 45-yard run leading to a 14 to 2 victory. Another Pirate, Jamal Mention, was named the offensive line MVP. The other awards went to River Ridge coach Ryan Benjamin was named as the county coach of the year. Sunlake’s Matt Smith, named the offensive assistant of the year and Zephyrhills’ Booker Pickett was the defensive coach of the year. Devontay Taylor was named the defensive line MVP and Zephyrhills’ Jackie Tucker Jr. won overall MVP.
