Florida Hospital Center Ice- Program Introduction Event

The community came out for an introduction to some of the programs that will be offered in the new Florida Hospital Center Ice facility.

The Tampa Bay Lightning was represented by the Thunderbug, Lightning Girls, as well as alumni. They also hosted a street hockey tournament for all ages and provided giveaways. There was target shooting and radar speed shooting contest. Representatives from Florida Hospital’s Sports Medicine department conducted mini performance evaluations as well as introducing us to some of their new equipment like their concussion assessment machine and demonstrated how they do some of their performance evaluations. The USF Ice Bulls also had a representative onsite. WDAE broadcasted onsite and other media outlets representatives were there. Hockey and figure skating program representatives were also onsite to introduce their respective programs.

The Shooting Stars basketball and volleyball program had Joey Graham on site in charge of the dunk contest and basketball games. Information about corporate events and parties were available. Wesley Chapel Athletic Association provided information about their box lacrosse league. Good condition, used sports equipment donations were collected on site by Wesley Chapel Athletic Association. Curling, speed skating and other program information were available. Wiregrass Ice Hawks High School hockey team were there in attendance showing their support for the new facility.

Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce representatives were there onsite. The community was able to view the virtual tour of the building to get an idea of how great this facility will be. There were prizes for competitions and games as well as a ton of giveaways. There was a Top Shelf Sports Lounge (facility restaurant and concession provider). Coca-Cola provided refreshments for the event. Rink Side Sports pro shop provided giveaways and equipment demonstrations.
