Morningstar Farms Basic Electricity Class (Photos by Richard Riley)

Light up your life! In this class learned what you need to know to safely replace or install receptacles, switches and light fixtures and more. In the first part, they covered safety and the basics of electrical circuitry including the service panel, circuit breakers and testing of the electrical devices. They learned how to identify wiring and make proper connections to devices. They also learned how to ‘map’ the circuits in the home along with basic troubleshooting skills. In the second part they learned to replace receptacles, install a dimmer switch, replace light fixtures, how to wire a ceiling fan for installation and repair cords, plugs and lamps. The class was at Morning Star Fishermen Facility, on Saturday June 13, 2015, from 10:00am-12:00pm. The cost was free.

The Instructor was Phil Reasons. Phil Reasons of Morning Star Fishermen Facility explains about electrical circuits and components at a free workshop for area residents. They learned how to recognize problems in their home wiring and how to make simple repairs.

Nathanael Kolb of Spring Hill attended the class with his mother and was enthusiastically interested in how the wires are connected in a home.

The Kolb family from Spring Hill were three of the participants in the free class held on Saturday, June 13. Sherry Kalb brought her son Nathanael and daughter Kindle.
