Glo Smith, Candidate for Florida’s fifth Congressional district told the Wesley Chapel Republican Club that she loves chocolate cake. In fact she could eat it three times a day. But unlike some, Glo chose to make her own cake using the recipe that made her the baker of her own destiny. Using the delectable symbol of chocolate cake, Glo highlighted the difference between the two dominant political parties, saying that the Democrats have no problem furnishing you with an unending stream of cake but would rather keep the recipe under wraps. Using humorous stories about her life, Glo’s journey was sometimes an arduous trek.

Glo was born when her mother was 20 years old. She was the fifth child; number six came one year later. Growing up in the poorest part of Jacksonville, Glo was no stranger to poverty. Before her mother remarried, their large family was living off a single mother’s salary and was dependent upon government assistance. Learning the tough lesson that generational government assistance was not the legacy she wanted to be remembered for, Glo Smith embraced a path of self-reliance, self-empowerment, and free-enterprise.

Glo faces a formidable candidate in Corinne Brown, however her positions on major issues and her message is one that will resonate with many individuals in the fifth district of Florida and in many urban areas across America. Glo knows that America’s urban cities are in need of hope and she is the one to deliver.
