Wesley Chapel Baseball Complex meets $23 million dollar financing deadline (via suncoastnews.com)

WESLEY CHAPEL (via suncoastnews.com) — Get your peanuts and Cracker Jacks. Break in your mitt. In two years, Pasco County could be home to the largest year-round youth baseball complex in the world.
With minutes to spare before a midnight deadline, Blue Marble founder James Talton and former Major League Baseball star Gary Sheffield came through with a financing plan for the $23 million needed for the county to release $11 million in tourist tax revenue it has pledged to help build the complex.
The game of baseball doesn’t have a clock — but this deal most definitely had an expiration date.
“To put this in terms of a baseball analogy, this came down to the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded with two outs,” Talton said. “I think we have hit a home run that wins the game for all of us, the county and the developer.”
Talton’s proposal for the complex, which would be northeast of the Shops at Wiregrass retail center, involves a two-pronged financing strategy.
