Joseph William Nystrom II, 18, joined Boy Scouts of America Troop 311 on February 23, 2008 and achieved 1st class rank a year later and subsequently was admitted to the Order of the Arrow Seminole Lodge Allouchsit Chapter on March 17, 2013. Joseph has held the positions of Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Scribe. Joseph has completed the Brotherhood as a member of the Ceremonies Team as well as completing OA Northern Tier and Sea Base High Adventures and is on course to complete the Philmont High Adventure Trek next summer. Joseph was awarded the Arrow of Light as a Webelo Scout and on August 27, 2014 was approved for Scoutings highest rank of Eagle Scout. Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is of special significance, not only in Scouting, but also in the areas of higher education, business and industry, and community service. The award is a performance-based achievement whose standards have been well-maintained over the years. To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. Joseph has earned 21 merit badges, 11 of which are required to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Joseph has volunteered countless hours to the community and participated in numerous community service projects with Troop 311, including the Coastal Clean-up, RAGE festivals, Kumquat Festivals, Relay for Life, and St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank. The Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida hereby congratulates Joseph William Nystrom II on attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, and is very proud of Joseph for his accomplishments and dedication to our community.
