Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputy and Dr. JoAnn Daniels team up to save dog in car

Tuesday, Jul 22, 2014 | On Target Page: Greater Pasco County, Land O'Lakes, Lutz, Trinity & West Pasco
Deputy Travis Gondek from Pasco County Sheriff’s Office got a call from Pasco Veterinarian, Dr. JoAnn Daniels' call for help this weekend when she found a dog that was left unattended in a hot car. Deputy Gondek recognized how serious the situation was and acted quickly to help. ” Thanks to the quick response and action by Deputy Gondek, the dog is going to be ok! If you ever find a dog left unattended in a car, Dr. Daniels suggest “Call the Sheriff's Office, write down the tag, state, and description of the vehicle - make model and color - and its location (in front of what store/business) then go inside the store and ask the manager to make an announcement to the owner of the vehicle.” Don't approach the person responsible; let the Deputy handle that part. Save the local veterinary clinic phone number in your cell phone (Central Pasco Veterinary Care 813-926-1126 - and the after hours/weekend/holiday veterinary clinic number - Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Service 813-265-4043) so you can help the deputy find places that are open that can care for the victim animal. With the deputies supervision, get the pet inside the store with air conditioning and give small sips of room temperature water while you are working together to figure out a plan.
