Mayor Bob Buckhorn at the New Tampa Chamber of Commerce, calls Wesley Chapel a “Bedroom Community” of Tampa

Mayor Bob Buckhorn spoke to members and guests of the New Tampa Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday about the exciting future of city formerly referred to as “America’s Next Great City”. Buckhorn feels that Tampa’s time is now and has proved it by hosting major events like the Republican Convention, the Super Bowl and many more flawlessly, it doesn’t fit anymore. He did have what some might call, outdate information regard his neighbor county to the north, Pasco, when he answered a question from a resident of Wesley Chapel. The Mayor of Tampa referred to Wesley Chapel as a “bedroom community of Tampa” that desperately needed the Light Rail Train service to bring the people from Pasco into Tampa to work and shop. He also felt it was a mistake for the Governor to turn down funding and is on record as supporting a tax hike to support light rail and improve bus transit all over the region. Mayor Buckhorn believes the solution to traffic congestion needs to be handled on a regional level to succeed. He also invited everyone to mark their calendars for the Mayor’s Mac & Cheese Throwdown on May 10 between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park!
