Foundation of Caring, Centennial Bank and Tampa Elks #708 donated desperately needed cash and supplies to Zephyrhills Pregnancy Care Center

Tuesday, Apr 01, 2014 | On Target Page: Greater Pasco County, Zephyrhills, Dade City, Wesley Chapel

Foundation and friends donated desperately needed cash and supplies to Zephyrhills Pregnancy Care Center. In addition to the generous time, talents and resources donated by the incredible FMC staff, the staff of Centennial Bank held their own fundraiser and baby drive in order to contribute to this great cause, and the members of Tampa Elks #708 also came alongside the Foundation to support this effort. We are grateful for both their care for this community and the Caring they have helped make possible.

The birth of a child is a universally joyful moment. So much promise, excitement and hope for the future. But, for many families, the birth of a child can also be a source of fear, apprehension and loneliness. Maybe the baby wasn’t planned, or, for whatever reason, the parents have gone their separate ways. Regardless of the relationship dynamics, there may be financial concerns. Where will we get all the things we need today? What will tomorrow hold? For parents and children in East Pasco, with these concerns and endless others, there is Zephyrhills Pregnancy Care Center.

Terri Luna (Pregnancy Care Center) and Sheri Schwab (Foundation of Caring) hold a bunny that, one day soon, will provide immeasurable comfort to a child. Even with the resources available, the need is immense. When you support the Foundation, we can multiply that gift and make a bigger difference together. The staff there can provide basic supplies, toys, equipment and other necessities as well as some of the counseling and education services parents need to make the best possible life for their little ones. When Pregnancy Care Center applied for a grant from the Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring, Foundation staff, as well as employees of FMC and other local businesses, jumped at the chance to help.

The result was a $3,500 donation and multiple vehicles overflowing with donated diapers, toys and other necessities. Check out all this wonderful stuff!!! Jessica Clement, who is a pulmonology supervisor at Florida Medical Clinic in Tampa, put the project together. Clement said she had approached Deb Thielen at the Foundation of Caring about becoming more involved in the Foundation’s community work. “When Deb mentioned that she was looking for someone to manage the project I knew I wanted to be that person.” Jessica began reaching out to her colleagues, inviting them to join the cause. “I want to thank my team, specifically Laura Ebel and Tammy Manley, for helping to make this project such a success!” Clement said she also wanted to thank Dr. Sailesh Shah and his wife Chhabi Shah, as well as Dr. Nathan Do, Melissa Nihiser, ARNP and Danielle Schultz. These folks donated many new and gently used baby items for the Center. Jessica said she was “honored” to be a part of this project. “Florida Medical Clinic has some of the most generous staff and physicians. It’s an honor to be a part of such a great team! I look forward to helping in many future projects.” Become a part of the blessing for thousands in Hillsborough and Pasco Counties by joining with the FMC Foundation of Caring.
