Suncoast Art Festival at the Shops at Wiregrass

The 9th annual Suncoast Arts Fest 2014 was held January 18 and 19, 2014 in the centrally located, quaint “small town” environment of The Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This is an upscale venue just off of I-75 in the northern part of the Tampa Bay area. A winding, cobblestone main street edged with trees provides the perfect venue for art lovers to browse through tents filled with fine art and select their purchases. Over 135 Fine Artists and Craftsmen were selling their artwork along Paseo Drive…. Chalk Artists, sponsored by Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture and the Arts (TBBCA.org) chalked works of art and “Random Acts for Art” took the Entertainment Stage, all weekend, sponsored by Team Farrell.

On Saturday night, Marvelous Marvin, WJQB 106.3 fm emceed the presentation of Arts Teachers Grants by SAF. High School “Emerging Artist” Exhibit provided young artists a professional experience to display their artwork. Hands-on Kid’s Art Garden provided interactive arts for youth on both days and a 1 Mile Suncoast Fun Run for the Arts, a family run, ended with a pancake breakfast afterwards on Sunday,

Phoneography Competition sponsored by Rasmussen College, was a competition open to anyone who can take a picture on their phone. Tony Masella won the competition with his Samsung Galaxy Note II taking a picture of Tampa Artist Sara May, a Multiple Sclerosis Mouth Artist. Masella, Owner of the Award winning Community Website, OurtownFLA.com was won a new Apple iPad Mini.

All proceeds from the Suncoast Arts Fest benefit “Arts for Kids,” a grant fund created by their parent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Fine Arts of the Suncoast, Inc., go to supplement arts education funding in area public, private and charter schools in Pasco County. In 2012, $10,813.91 was awarded from event proceeds.

Last year over 100,000 people patronized The Shops at Wiregrass the weekend of the Arts Fest. All proceeds from the Suncoast Arts Fest benefit “Arts for Kids,” a grant fund created by our parent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Fine Arts of the Suncoast, Inc., go to supplement arts education funding in area public, private and charter schools in Pasco County.
