Chloe Lupo, of Freedom High School, is the new Miss Pasco County Fair. She won the title in a very competitive contest on February 21 at Dan Cannon Auditorium. She sang “Crazy Dreams” for the talent portion and her platform is Volunteerism-Just Get Up and Volunteer. Jacqueline Urbuteit, a student at UF, was crowned the 2009 Miss Pasco County, at the pageant held on February 21 at Dan Cannon Auditorium. She sang, “At Last” for the talent portion of the pageant, and her platform is “Upward Bound-Mentoring Children about the Importance of Education.”

Allyshia Gupta, of Centennial Middle School, won the title of Teen Miss Heart of Florida at the pageant held on February 20 at the Dan Cannon Auditorium. Pasco Elementary’s Kayla Ortiz was crowned Tiny Miss Heart of Florida. The pageant was held at the Dan Cannon Auditorium.Kenzi Ennis, of Woodland Elementary, was crowned Little Miss Heart of Florida at the pageant held on February 20 at the Dan Cannon Auditorium.
Lauren Perez, of Wiregrass Ranch High School, was crowned the 2009 Miss Heart of Florida at the pageant held on February 20 at the Dan Cannon Auditorium.Megan Palmer, of Lacoochee Elementary, won the title of Wee Miss Heart of Florida at the pageant held on February 20 at the Dan Cannon Auditorium. Gulf HS wins the Class 1A District 6 Wrestling Tournament at Sunlake HS with 5 First-Place Titles, 4 Second-Place Titles, 4 Third-Place Titles, and 218 points. Sunlake was Runner-Up with 3 First-Place Titles,4 Second-Place Titles, and 122 points. Other schools competing were Wiregrass Ranch (3rd), Bishop Moore, Pasco, Lake Highland Prep, Zephyrhills, and Hudson.

Women's Handgun training Class
at the Second Amendment Club
Second Amendment Club of America hosted their first Women's Class for 2009. It was a free class and all women were encouraged to attend. President of the club John DiGaetano, said "The Ladies learned about the different types of handguns, and how to handle and clean them as well as the correct type of ammo to use." DiGaetano continued, " The ladies really enjoyed the target and self defense shooting. It was our largest class ever. we had expected about 15 Women but 39 women showed up, and that's great. I plan on having another class in a few months so I will start taking names now of any women who want to take this class, and all the classes are FREE."

Three killed in Pasco crash
A head-on crash along State Road 54 early Saturday morning leaves three people dead. Killed were Dorly Kelly, 36, of New Port Richey, the driver of a Jeep Cherokee; and both occupants of a BMW convertible, Nicholas James Plank, 21, and Derek Marquisse Giles, 17, both of Palm Harbor.

The mounting weight of Wesley Chapel's undefeated season finally became too much to bear. Wildcats coach Karim Nohra seemed relieved they finally lost, falling 50-35 to Mitchell on Friday night."It's got to end some time," Nohra said. "I'm glad it's off my shoulders."

New Community Service Council of West Pasco board ready
Community Service Council of West Pasco is ready to begin the new year
with the induction of their 2009 Executive Board Members. The new board
was inducted at the meeting held on Dec. 11 at Seven Springs Country
Club.
The Community Service Council organization’s projects and events for the
2009 year include the annual Bachelor, Baskets and Service Auction,
Operation Shoebox to provide supplies to troops, Scholarships awarded
for six local students and the Thanksgiving Project that provides meals
for many families.
