Students Holds Fundraiser Plant Sale

Click >>> Martinez Middle School

Lutz~Story by Sheila Tramontana

Martinez Middle School FFA students grow their own plants and vegetables behind their school classroom taking care of and nurturing them to sell to earn money for various projects, trips and supplies.

Advisor Derek Barber cultivated the program overseeing its growth since its inaugural year in 2002-2003 and has produced great results with student accomplishments. His students always fare well at the State Fair as well as other FFA based competitions. Alumni students love Mr. Barber and enjoyed his class very much and recall many fun memories of working in the pens and greenhouses. Each year around the holidays, Mr. Barbers FFA sells poinsettias to raise funds for the program. The students have annuals, ferns, lilies, and a wide variety of other beautiful plants which can be purchased anytime. If you would like for information on plant sales, contact Mr. Barber at Derek.Barber@sdhc.k12.fl.us
