Many athletes recall childhood memories of
following their dreams to excel in a particular sport. Recent
Sunlake High graduate Tyler Hisamoto's drive to excel didn't rest in
one sport. As a seventh-grader at Pine View Middle School, the multi-sport
athlete sought to win an award given to a student who competed in
every sport. The only sport he did not participate in was track. "My dad convinced me to throw the discus," he said. Under the guidance of Coach Mike Hill, Hisamoto took second place
in the conference. In eighth grade, he captured first in the
conference.
Two very
good teams faced each other Monday night in the 2010 Girls
Basketball District 4A-8 2009-2010 Tournament at Wiregrass
Ranch High School. Zephyrhills High School lead by coach
Jerry Stacy fell to a very strong Sunlake High School lead
by coach Robert Kamps on Feb 1, 2010.

Cheerleaders Participated in the Super Bowl Half-time Show with
Bruce Springsteen.
The Sunlake High School Cheerleaders were part of a group of 2,000
participants that entertained during the Super Bowl Half-time
Show with Bruce Springsteen. The idea originated when Sunlake ESE
Department Chair and Mainstream Consult Teacher Dave Pike suggested
the idea to EMH Teacher and Varsity Cheerleader coach Lindsay Sorci
and she enthusiastically contacted the show arrangers who
immediately accepted. They have had several practices. Pictured are:

at the high school who want to make a difference in our community
and school. The primary focus of the group is drunk driving and safe
driving for teenagers, but we also address social problems like teen
suicide, eating disorders, bullying, etc. Funds from the car wash
will be used to promote the club and special events in the future
like Red Ribbon Week. The club sponsor is the School Resource

caused many to pass on the car wash. “We asked them

Sunlake High School Marching Band held their first
Band Camp at Pineview Middle School August 3, 2007. The Sunlake Marching Band "rocked
the house" on Friday, August 3 during the end-of-band-camp Parent Show.
The performance celebrated the conclusion of a long week of marching,
playing, and perspiring from 8am to 8pm each day. Many of the auxiliary
members (color guard and majorettes) actually suffered bruising, among
other minor injuries. But however exhausting band camp was, the outcome
made it worth the effort. A lot was learned, especially by the incoming
freshmen. With the help of skilled clinicians, this small band with a
relatively large percussion section met most of its goals last week and
will continue to rock throughout the football/marching season.
